The Early Slavic Studies Association condemns Russia’s attack on Ukraine. We are appalled at the historical distortions that Russia has used to justify its invasion, and we stand beside our colleagues, family, friends, and fellow citizens in Ukraine, as well as Russian colleagues opposing this violation of international law. The damage done, in loss of lives and loss of trust across countries of the Slavic world, will profoundly impact our colleagues, and we are eager to hear from members about how we can support anyone who may be affected by the ongoing crisis.
